Right next door of Romania, there is some kind of war going on. Hungary kisses again Russia’s ass. LEARN OUR HISTORY AND TELL ME WHY ARE WE SO TOLERANT? Hungarians claim autonomy in 2 counties from Transylvania region because they become the majority in there and they refuse to speak our language and they dishonors ou nation! Our ancestor have lived there, and they deny everything and politicians seat confortly! Man, just yesterday I read, again, what they did to our uncles and aunts. I am talking WW I. They have a party Union Democrat Magyar of Romania, and for over 20 years they kissing ass to whom political party is in charge, so they can be at the table that guverns.

I say Romanians that immigrated and have lived over a few good years in western prosper countries have gathered knowledge about true democracy, not this fake one we live in! If WW III comes up, I hope God brings Romania on top, and the truth inside it! HUNGARY SHOULD PAY US TRIBUTE!

In reply to Mirel. There is always someone worse off than us, that is fact. I'm not naive and actually spend very little time in front of the TV (but thanks for passing judgment). We see these documentaries because 1) Different cultures interest me and without being able to visit every country, documentaries can be educational if done correctly and 2) My husband is Romanian and he too wishes to see how his country is portrayed by others. My suggestion to Romanians make their own documentary was to ensure a non-discriminatory view of all Romanians and their history and if it entertains, I don't see that as a bad thing. My examples of concern are just a few among many. The ones highlighted are just some of the most ridiculous in a rising culture of political correctness and governmental stupidity when it comes to wasting money. War here is also a major concern for our people, especially when considering our government seems intent on following America into every argument but that takes us off topic.

We cannot afford to live here neither. With 200 euros minimum wage and the prices are like in western Europe or higher, or the same brand bought but lower quality, etc They are so many manoeuvres that our corrupted politicians admit to happen, so they can get healthy. IN OUR FACE!!! Tax evasions, full of dirty work. We pay 24% taxes on everything almost. Bla bla bla… to much headache here

I know what do you mean by living in your country and not quite feel home. I have lived 10 years in USA between lots of immigrants, and of course between many cultures. Your country’s issues are nothing new to me! Romanians get drunk too, after a celebration of the city that usually last 2-3 days, you will find miserable streets and God knows what. Parties don’t worry me!!! WAR DOES, BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE IDEAL SOLUTION!

DO DOCUMENTARIES ON KIDS IN AFRICA! THERE IS WORSE THAN E. EUROPE! YOU ARE VERY NAIVE! YOU GOT LOTS OF TIME SPENDING IN FRONT OF THE TV AND YOU WANT TO KEEP YOURSELF ENTERTAINED ABOUT SOMETHING YOU KNOW A LITTLE. (trust me, from all you know about us… is just a little part!)

I respect your point sincerely. Do you not think we feel the same about media showing drunks and women lying in the street. It is a growing problem here but it is still a very small group in comparison. At least your country is proud of who they are and defend themselves. Trust me, it might be simpler for you and other nationalities to come here but not for us. This is why many are frustrated. Our government spends millions welcoming other cultures and nationalities, translating documents and standard application forms and even multiple street names in different languages to help those from different nationalities. This is great, don’t get me wrong, however, we cannot sing traditional English nursery rhymes in schools anymore for fearing of offending those nationalities and we cannot call a black bag a black bag anymore, for fear of offending black people and we are discouraged from celebrating Jesus at Christmas because so many children have other faith and we are forced to accommodate their wishes to not be involved in such celebrations. My older children had to be catapillars and knights in their school productions instead of Mary and Jesus. You are not the only ones with system issues. Don’t forget, we have such a small island to squash so many people in.

My husband is Romanian and I have been to Romania and seen beautiful places and rich people but also sat in restaurants while children begged at my feet and lived underground. I am simply trying to look at this series objectively and suggest that we all watch the series till the end before judging channel 4. I like to remain optimistic until proven otherwise. The title is offensive, I agree, but it is the content I am more concerned about. Maybe a Romanian TV station could make their own documentary about Romania and sell it to the world to give a better view of how hard you all work to live. In all honesty, I love Romania but I couldn’t afford to live there.

Gina, what do you want is not right. I can agree with Laura to the programme title, yes indeed is offensive, but you don’t feel it like us. The finger is not pointed at you! They failed from the beginning with the title, and showing gypsies lifestyles is like showing the Indians, Pakistanians from United Kingdom, as Englishmen. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!!!
Romania is NOT poor! Once again! A lot of nations want to get hold of our land! The pressure is on us for many many centuries. Only the Greeks know to appreciate our statute in European history. They are our brothers! Not the governments, not the manipulated media, but the people can understand human nature!
When I say we are over 25 million easily, around 19 million probably left in the country, what do you think? You will not see hard working Romanians? or well educated? or bandits, or poverty, or what cruel truth do you want to see and you think you will not find it in all England??? If you want to point out something, point out the authorities in Romania how they do their job, how corrupted is the system we live in. How even police has no credibility. They are some fat ass cowards! The system doesn’t function for the ordinary people, and when we go in western countries everything seems so decent, simplified, and you don’t see the worry of tomorrow expression on their faces!

Gina, ce vrei tu nu este în regulă! Pot să fiu de acord cu Laura la titlul programului, într-adevăr este jignitor, însă tu nu-l simți ca și noi! Degetul nu este îndreptat spre tine! Au eșuat de la început cu titlul, iar arătând viața țiganilor este ca și cum i-ai arăta pe Indienii, Pakistanezii din Marea Britanie ca fiind englezi. TU ÎNȚELEGI?!
România NU este săracă! Încă o dată! Multe nații doresc să pună stăpânire pe pământul nostru! Presiunea este pe noi de foarte foarte multe secole. Doar grecii știu să aprecieze statutul nostru în istoria europeană. Ei sunt frații noștri! Nu guvernul, nu media manipulată, ci oamenii pot înțelege firea umană!
Când zic că suntem peste 25 de milioane ușor, în jur de 19 milioane probabil rămași în țară, tu ce crezi? Tu crezi că nu vei vedea români muncitori/harnici? sau bine educați? ori bandiți, ori sărăcie, sau ce adevăr crunt ai vrea să vezi și tu crezi că nu vei găsi în toată Anglia??? Dacă dorești să arăți ceva despre România, arată despre autoritățile românești cum își fac treaba, cât de corupt este sistemul în care trăim. Cum nici poliția n-are nicio credibilitate! Sunt niște grași urâți și lași! Sistemul nu funcționează pentru oamenii de rând, iar când pășim în țările vestice totul pare atât de decent, simplificat, și nu vezi nici o grijă a zilei de mâine pe fețele lor!

Our country has many issues/people we aren’t so proud of too. I don’t think any country is perfect. I’ve been to places where they are surprised how ‘normal’ I am due to programmes like those but there is little we can do about it. Like you, we can’t deny they are there, only remind people they are a minority. Sadly, television everywhere wants to broadcast things that show the bad in others and spark rows. I think this is why the world is so full of problems.

I too thought the title was poor. If they base the whole series on roma gypsies then that’s what it should read. It would be a shame if they don’t represent the majority of Romanians. I’ve considered living there on many occasions, it’s a beautiful place.
